Interview with Influencer/Fashionista Emani Mone Jeter Founder of BeautyStrike

1) How did the BeautyStrike come about?

a. Before BeautyStrike I started a clothing company called, Polite Society. My clothing company was
featured on Hypebeast and High Snobiety and sales skyrocketed. However, I wasn’t satisfied and I always would look for reasons to escape my business or even cause self sabotage for myself and my brand. About a year ago I gave Beauty Strike a go, I grew up in a house that literally had a Beauty Room because my mom was a Pink Cadillac Mary Kay Director so I grew up in the Beauty industry. However, I thought the Mary Kay company and its founder is great but I just wanted to start something new and fresh so after years of thought I decided to do it. BeautyStrike started a year ago – June 17, 2017. I was a bit scared to do it because it was something new and I
didn’t know what to expect, but I always wanted to start own cosmetic line.

2) How did the name BeautyStrike come about?

 I write everything done. I had this book I carried around from 9-12th grade where I would jot don all my ideas, plans, etc. and I started writing down different potential names for the company. I wrote down BeautyStrike and I instantly felt connected to the name and decided to go with it.

3) Where do you house your products?
a. I work from home so right now everything is housed at my home office.

4) How long does it tae to make a product?
a. It depends – certain products take longer to make. One product can take 10mins to make, but
bottling takes longer. For example, clients who ask for wholesale orders for Beauty Boxes, making the products could take 10+ hours. I literally don’t go to sleep. Everything is made by hand and it is vegan and cruelty free. If I have an event coming up, I try to make 100 products at once so they don’t run out during events and everyday life.





5) What advice would you give yourself?

a. *Laughs* Hmm. I would say stay on the right path and continue with my time management
skills, life happens, but overall I have gotten really good at learning to put certain priorities
before others and remember that you can’t sell a product that’s not there. Even with my clothing
company Polite Society, I would create a sample and then have a pre-order. I didn’t feel
comfortable having a pre-order because I didn’t have everything on my possession. I like the fact
that I know how to make my own beauty products, so if I say, “Hey, this product is available” if
a thousand people want it – a thousand people can get it. The second thing I would tell myself is
block out negative people. I made this brand from nothing. It was an idea, and then it was on
paper, then came my packaging, boxes, labels, products, etc. – so don’t believe people who say
you can’t do something just because they don’t see your vision and it’s not fathomable to them.
A lot of people can’t use their imagination or think pass what they can see in the moment and
that was something I was always able to do.




6) What is your goal for this year?
a. My goal for this year is to continue the path that I am on and keep improving everyday. Improve
on myself emotionally, spiritually, and financially – be an overall better person inside and
outside. Strive for ultimate perfection.

7) Where do you see yourself in five years?
a. I see BeautyStrike having a warehouse, storefront – I have these events called lip-labs where
women can come and create their own custom lip-gloss or lipstick shade and I see that being a
major event internationally and not just in New York. I am going big because if you don’t put it (your vision) out there it is not going to happen. You have to put it out there and do the work –
it’s a lot of work, but you have to do it.


8) If you didn’t have your own Beauty Company what would you be doing?
a. I would still be doing Polite Society and freelancing a lot more.

9) What do you feel most accomplishment for in your life right now?
a. I feel like my biggest accomplishment in life right now is leaving an abusive household. I was
physically and emotionally abused most of my life so I did not view it as abuse or view what I
was going through as wrong until I had an outside prospective. Moving on my own, I had to really find myself and find out the person I wanted to be and strive to be that person everyday.





10) What would you say is a significant moment in your life?
a. A Significant moment in my life would be when I went back to my old high school to tell the
students and faculty that I started BeautyStrike and I am literally living the dreams that I wrote
down in a journal I walked those very halls with.

11) What is your greatest struggle?
a. My biggest struggle is being too hard on myself being raised the way I was - I never really
celebrated my wins because it was always on to the next thing. While that was partially good
because I learned not to relish too long it was also a downfall because I never had the feeling of
being high on my accomplishments. But, everything is a balance and work in progress.
